Periodontology

Periodontology is a specialized branch of dentistry that focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases affecting the gums and supporting structures of the teeth. Periodontologists treat conditions such as gingivitis and periodontitis, perform gum grafting, and conduct dental implant procedures to maintain oral health. This field plays a critical role in preventing tooth loss and ensuring the long-term stability of the oral cavity. Students in the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene (BSDH) program take both an intoductory and applied periodontology course as part of the program’s curricilum.
