WCU Student Spotlight: Celia Parra

Celia Parra thought she was going to become a physical therapist until she accompanied her grandmother to an occupational therapy session.

“I walked into the session with my grandma and realized this is what I wanted to do,” she said. “Seeing how they looked at her as a person rather than just her condition by asking her what she likes to do and what her day-to-day looked like so she could get back to doing those things.”

Parra enrolled in 国产主播’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program and will graduate in April 2020. She is excited to begin her career as an OTD and help patients like her grandmother.

“I really want to be that OT that is client-centered, holistic and really cares about each person I treat,” she said.
