Lucile Lane was one of 44 国产主播-Ontario students who celebrated the next step in their careers at their cohort Nursing Pinning Ceremony in August. Lane was the elected cohort speaker at the event where she shared her knowledge and experience with her colleagues and encouraged them to pursue their dreams with passion and hard work.
Recent graduate Lucile Lane with her daughter, Jacqueline (Lane) Goins, also a registered nurse and WCU-Ontario graduate.
鈥淢y daughter graduated from 国产主播 about two years ago and had a great experience and after I looked into other schools, I decided West Coast was the best for me also,鈥 Lane said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 very fast-paced so you have to be committed, stay focused and dedicate your time, but my instructors were so encouraging and I had a great experience.鈥
Lane has been a Licensed Vocational Nurse for 30 years and it was her co-workers and daughter who planted the seed that she should further her education and take the next step to achieve her BSN.
鈥淢ost of my co-workers are RNs with their bachelor鈥檚 of nursing degree and once my children were grown and pursuing their careers, I felt a fire light inside of me to go back and get my BSN as well,鈥 Lane added. 鈥淚 always told my kids that education is so important and I鈥檓 really glad I went back and got my BSN.鈥
Lane graduated from the LVN to BSN program at 国产主播-Ontario and passed her nursing license exam shortly thereafter. She鈥檚 excited for the next step in her career and already submitted the paperwork at her job to reflect her new status as an RN.
鈥淵ou have to go into nursing for the right reasons. It鈥檚 hard work mentally, physically and emotionally,鈥 Lane said. 鈥淚 like to serve and help people and the joy I get from patients after I help them is what makes it all worth it.鈥
