WCU-Ontario Helps Welcome 65 New Nurses at June 2016 BSN Pinning Ceremony

The 国产主播-Ontario campus hosted a pinning ceremony for the April bachelor of science in nursing cohort on June 24, 2016.

“The pinning ceremony is such a great event to celebrate the end of the BSN program and the entrance into nursing as a profession,” Roxanne Mendoza, WCU-Ontario student services coordinator, said. “The pinning ceremony is a rite of passage into nursing where the instructors, mentors and students become colleagues.”

The 65 BSN students were able to take pictures with their cohort dressed in their white attire, which symbolizes cleanliness and the purity of the nursing profession, Mendoza said. As students crossed the Lewis Playhouse stage at the Victoria Gardens, they were pinned and welcomed into nursehood.

“The pin received from the dean represents the education received and the hard work and dedication put in from each student,” Mendoza said. “The lamp that is lighted represents Florence Nightingale as the students take the Nursing Pledge. As the ceremony concluded, the students walked out feeling accomplished and honored to be a part of the tradition here at 国产主播.”
