WCU-Miami Students Participate in Jackson Health System MCI Surge Trauma Scenario聽

This summer, 国产主播-Miami students participated in an MCI Surge Trauma Scenario created by the Jackson Health System.

Designed as a comprehensive mass casualty incident drill, the event simulated the aftermath of a large-scale explosion. To accurately reflect the chaos and complexity of such scenarios, students were organized into groups representing different injury severities and assigned triage levels before being transported to either the Trauma Unit or Emergency Room to receive the corresponding care.

“It was fun and realistic,鈥 remarked Suset O., one of the WCU-Miami students who participated. 鈥淚t simulated us as real patients with various injuries. We were triaged promptly and treated. I learned the importance of quickly assessing and categorizing patients based on the severity of their injuries.鈥澛

To enhance the drill鈥檚 realism, the Coast Guard provided expert moulage services, applying detailed and realistic makeup to replicate a wide range of injuries and conditions. This allowed students to experience a more authentic and challenging simulation, preparing them for real-world emergency medical situations.

“Communication was big during this time. I learned the importance of clear and concise communication among the team and coordination with other departments,鈥 Suset said. 鈥淭he drill helped me solidify my future career as a nurse. Overall, the drill was a valuable and affirming experience, reinforcing the importance of dedication, continuous learning, and teamwork.”
