More than 25 国产主播 Doctorate of Physical Therapy student and faculty volunteered at the 2015 Spinal Injury Games in October, held at the in Downey, Calif.
The Spinal Injury Games is a free, annual event , where participants experience a variety of wheelchair sports.
鈥淧articipating in Spinal Games this past weekend with my fellow 国产主播 colleagues was a priceless opportunity to interact with passionate athletes while witnessing their abilities,鈥 WCU DPT student Kenzi Mather said. 鈥淎pplying our knowledge of what we have learned thus far on spinal cord injuries to real life experiences was astounding, and something I will forever be grateful for.鈥
WCU student and faculty volunteers were able to assist participants and spectators with activities such as hand-cycling, quad rugby, football accuracy throw, football, tennis, power wheelchair relay/obstacle course and wheelchair races.
鈥淚t was a very high-energy and fun event and gave us DPT students a great opportunity to apply our didactic knowledge learned in classes and labs to real-life scenarios and patients through observation and interaction with the participants and spectators,鈥 WCU DPT student Thomas Swift.
Our WCU students volunteered alongside WCU occupational therapy students, as well as, physical therapy and physical therapy assistant students from University of Southern California and CSU Long Beach.
