WCU Doctor of Physical Therapy Students in Los Angeles Volunteer at Health Clinic for Star Apartments Residents


¹ú²úÖ÷²¥’s Doctor of Physical Therapy students pose outside the Star Apartments in Los Angeles’ Skid Row. The six-story building was built in 2013 to help the city’s homeless.

More than 40 ¹ú²úÖ÷²¥ physical therapy doctorate students and faculty performed health screenings for residents of the Star Apartments in late June.

The day started at WCU’s Center for Graduate Studies, where the group took nearby public transportation to the 102-unit complex. The was built in 2013 by the to help the city’s chronically homeless.

Skid Row occupies approximately 50 square blocks just east of downtown Los Angeles. Also known as Central City East, the area has a long history as a neighborhood for those with the least.

Approximately 100 people were treated at the health screening, which included testing blood pressure, balance and grip strength and walking activities.
