Yon Erin Choe loves her job as a school nurse.
When one of the 700 elementary school students under her care scrapes a knee, has a tummy ache or a sniffle, Choe is the one they go see. One of the favorite parts of her job, she said, is seeing the students during their school day and being there when needed.
Luckily for her students, Choe ignored the advice she received from a high school guidance counselor and decided to purse her dreams of working in healthcare.
“I wish someone had told me that when I was 18 that it is possible to pursue your career and pursue your dreams,” Choe said. “I’ve always wanted to be a nurse since I was a child but it was something that I was told I couldn’t do and I was determined to prove them wrong.”
Now the 国产主播-Dallas graduate is proud of being a registered nurse and even more proud in her role of at the school.
“It’s a job with many hats,” she said. “I think you can play a lot of different roles as a nurse. It’s like being a friend, it’s like being a parent, it’s like being a child sometimes. It is everything combined into one to help the person that’s in need.”
