Japanese University Nursing Students Visit WCU-LA

Sophomore nursing students from Niigata University of Health & Welfare in Japan, recently visited 国产主播-Los Angeles for a tour of the Simulation Center and campus.

国产主播 students in simulation classes gathered with the Japanese students to exchange cultural differences that impact nursing in both countries. Following the gathering, 国产主播 and Japanese students participated in an orientation simulation program caring for a pneumonia patient.

Campus Nursing Dean, Gina Rico, also spoke with the Japanese nursing students and faculty about the simulation curriculum and how theory and simulation are aligned.

鈥淭his was an exceptional rewarding day for all students and faculty involved,鈥 Rico shared. 鈥淭he Japanese tour guide shared with us that regardless of the language barrier, the students built some confidence in the lab by working together with our students and were able to experience a simulation lab for the first time.鈥

This is the second visit in the past year from a Japanese university鈥檚 nursing program. Professors from the previous visit were very impressed with WCU-LA鈥檚 nursing program as well as the advanced simulation center, so they specifically requested to bring their students to the campus again.

鈥淎ll of the students and professors from Niigata said their day at WCU was the highlight of their stay in the U.S.!鈥 Rico added.
