Patient-centered care through interprofessional practice is one of the key characteristics of a 国产主播 graduate. In an effort to increase awareness and collaboration across healthcare disciplines, 国产主播 is excited to host the inaugural Interprofessional Education Day on Friday, October 2.
鈥淥ur goal of IPE Day is to raise the awareness of and to work towards achieving the core competencies of Interprofessional Collaborative Practice so that students become a valued member of any healthcare team,鈥 Provost Jeb Egbert, Ed.D. said.
The University-wide day will be focused on interprofessionalism and how it positively impacts the safe administration of healthcare. Students from Nursing, Dental Hygiene, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy and Health Administration will be immersed in interprofessional activities.
Enjoy the week of festivities leading up to October 2! Here鈥檚 how each campus is participating:
WCU-Center for Graduate Studies: On October 2, over 300 students and faculty from each of the disciplines will convene to review a series of patient scenarios in diverse groups. There are multiple stations faculty-facilitated stations that the students will rotate through as the case of a patient unfolds.
WCU Ontario and WCU-Los Angeles: September 28-October 4, core Nursing Students will experience IPE activities in their NURS courses, skills labs, Simulation Center and at Clinical Sites including: Interprofessional role-playing; Group discussion as a collaborative practice; Interprofessional teamwork and communication exercises.
WCU-Orange County: September 28-October 4, core Nursing Students will participate in activities similar to the Ontario and Los Angeles campuses in addition to participating in a case study where the patient-centered care is approached.
WCU-Dallas: September 28-October 4, core Nursing Students will experience activities including: Panel Discussion with a Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Dietician, and Nurse Simulation; Interprofessional Consultations with patients who have diabetics; Case study with Interprofessional Roles; and a 鈥淣ame that Professional鈥 Game.
WCU-Miami: September 28-October 4, core Nursing Students will participate in activities similar to the Ontario and Los Angeles campuses in addition to self-assessing perceptions of healthcare providers.
