In honor of Children’s Dental Health Month, WCU-Orange County’s dental hygiene students volunteer their time to help children in their local community.
“Children’s Dental Health month actually started with a dentist named Dr. Alfred Fones,” WCU dental hygiene student DeMarcus Gresham said. “He had this vision for mass childhood prevention so events like today kind of embody his vision and really what he wanted to get out of dental hygiene.”
For the past eight years, 国产主播-Orange County has hosted Smile Camp, a no-cost dental clinic open to the public. Students provide oral health education and instruction to all participants as well as dental services including screenings, cleanings, X-Rays, fluoride treatments, sealants and interim therapeutic restorations.
The dental clinic is also open to the public Monday-Friday for all adults and children and serves more than 15,000 patients a year. To schedule an appointment, call (877) 928-2546.
