The WCU Proud Award honors alumni who support the Alumni Network鈥檚 principles of connecting, giving back, and celebrating WCU pride through extraordinary service to WCU. The winners were Faith Brawner, Brittney Ayers, Nune Stephanyan, Edmund Alfonso and Jonathan Llamas.
Faith graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2017 and has been an asset to the Dental Hygiene students ever since. Thanks to her involvement in the Dining with DH program she has helped numerous students with study tips, career advice and how to survive hygiene school.
Brittney graduated in 2016 with her nursing degree and is enrolled at WCU pursuing her Master of Science in Nursing degree with an emphasis on Family Nurse Practitioner. She is a member of the US Army and served for a year in Kuwait. She also volunteers her time with WCU for graduate panels and marketing pieces.
Nune also graduated in 2016 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and will graduate with her Master of Science in Nursing with a Family Nurse Practitioner emphasis in 2019. During her undergraduate years at WCU, she participated in the International Education trip to Panama while learning about public health. Nune is an active WCU Alumni and lends her expertise at many of our alumni events.
Edmund graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013 and truly demonstrates what it means to be WCU Proud. He is not only the lead faculty instructor for mental health at the Ontario campus but also volunteers his time as the faculty advisor for the Men In Nursing Chapter. You may even recognize him from our Men In Nursing marketing campaign and featured on the cover of Working Nurse magazine.
Jonathan graduated in 2013 with his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and currently works as a psych nurse with Kaiser Permanente. You can find Jonathan at every Alumni event imaginable and was a fantastic host at the 2018 Men In Nursing Dinner. In addition to events, he generously donated his image for our infamous pop-up event and fundraising campaign posters. Be sure to check it out tonight. Between alumni events, he spends his time finishing his doctoral degree and is also a published writer on MinorityNurse.com.
Congratulations to all our winners and thank you for truly exemplifying what it means to be WCU Proud!
