Graduates and their loved ones filled the auditorium for the ceremony, where WCU Co-President Ward Ulmer welcomed them, expressing pride in their achievements and offering best wishes as they pursue their careers, bringing the caring culture of WCU with them.
Leslie P., a first-generation college graduate, shared the ceremony’s profound significance for both her and her family. Leslie鈥檚 achievement of attaining a bachelor of science in nursing degree is not just a personal victory but also a source of inspiration for her family and future generations.
鈥淢y parents never finished high school or middle school,鈥 she said. 鈥淚鈥檓 the first to do anything and it鈥檚 such a big day for us.鈥
For Tristan T., graduating from WCU with a聽master聽of聽public health聽degree聽means using his knowledge and skills to impact the healthcare sector positively.聽He聽shared his desire to address health literacy issues, specifically among veterans.聽聽
鈥淲est Coast has set me up for success, and now I aim to give back by working at places like the VA, supporting former veterans,鈥 Tristan said.
Alexandra A. grew up in a rural area with limited healthcare access, experiencing firsthand the challenges of reaching medical facilities. Determined to make a difference in rural communities, she pursued a master of physician assistant degree at WCU.
鈥淭hanks to my degree from 国产主播, I’m now stepping into my field and serving in rural medicine,鈥 she said. 鈥淚’m excited to make a difference in people’s lives, so they hopefully don鈥檛 experience the challenges I faced.鈥
BSN graduate Dana A. reflected on her educational journey, overcoming personal and academic challenges to become a resilient and motivated individual.
鈥淣ursing school doesn鈥檛 just teach you how to be a nurse,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t teaches you how to be a human, it teaches you how to be a strong person.鈥
